Ambling out in the street for something to eat
Don't you love people who leave the crust of a hot apple pie
So I don’t see the lady in the blue odyssey
Don't suspect a thing 'til it was right on top of me
Not even time to hear the air whooshing out
As my chest collapses
Breakfast and stuff squeezed out of my mouth
Drive away slowly all life is holy
keep that in mind next time
My flock gathered round heads bowed they sympathize
As the lady slowed down the mirror reflected shock in her eyes
She got out of her car already too late
Blaming herself should have slammed on the brakes
She has 3 pets but who takes a pigeon to the vet
So she drives away slowly and makes a careful left
Right about then I feel the first peck
It doesn’t hurt I’m already dead
Better to be eaten by my mates than wait for the cats and the rats
Or another mini-van to squash me
Unappetizingly flat
Drive away slowly all life is holy
But we all gotta eat down on the street
Everything is meat
And oh, by the way
It’s true what they say
Tastes like chicken
